I've been using the R1 Ribbons on guitar and for drum ambience with great results. They sound (and look) pretty sweet. Warm, deep and detailed. The R1's are getting a lot of use at the moment.
I've not used the Reflexion Filter for it's primary purpose, vocals (I like to see the singer) but have used it on guitar mics to get some separation when the band are all in the room. Very useful and smart.

"Jagged Little Pill" and platinum hits from artists such as Missy Elliot, No Doubt, Korn, Michelle Branch, Weezer, Madonna,

Westlake have been trying out some of the sE range over the past few months with various artists and have been blown away by the results.

AND A GEMINI
We caught up with Nick Franglen of Lemon Jelly to see how he was getting on with his Gemini, he told us "If I could only use one mic it would be Gemini, no contest. It
captures the natural essence of the instrument without colouring the
sound in a way that made my other mics seem muddy and indistinct.
For vocals, lead instruments and those intimate sounds like acoustic
guitars where you need to hear the pure qualities of the instrument and
performance I really couldn't imagine using a different microphone."

TROY VAN LEEUWEN LOVES HIS GEMINI
Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist and keyboard player Troy Van Leeuwen has been using his sE Gemini for quite some time now
and loves it! In his words "this mic is possibly the only one you'll need in a recording situation." Praise indeed.
Troy rates the Gemini so much he's just added an ICIS, a z3300a and an sE2200a to his mic cupboard.
We'll be catching up with Troy in the next couple of weeks to get his thoughts on the new additions.

Z5600a vs. NEUMANN UM57
Rich Wells of Electronic Musician recently spent some quality studio time with the sE z5600a and concluded that "...the z5600a is a versatile and fine-sounding tube mic that has a relatively low price tag. The various clients whose sessions I used it on liked it, even when I told them they were listening to it in comparison
with a Neumann. And that may be the biggest sign of all that the z5600a is pretty darned good."
