Inside the V7 X
THE HEART OF THE V7 X: THE NEW DMC7 X CAPSULE
The all-new custom DMC7 X capsule offers the same technologies and features as its sibling within the V7, including its innovative, specialized aluminum voice coil. While the V7 is optimized for vocals, the capsule in the V7 X has been custom-tuned to shine especially on instruments. Proven neodymium magnets, tight production tolerances and high workmanship ensure excellent sensitivity, high-end sound quality and superb consistency.
BUILT FOR A COMPLETE SPECTRUM OF INSTRUMENTS
The upper-frequency range is smooth & balanced, capturing every nuance of the player, while the lowered resonance and extended, powerful low-frequency response allows for a complete spectrum of instruments: 4×12 guitar cabs, toms, snares, horns, rotary organs, or any other instrument all come through loud, natural, and clear.
SUPERCARDIOID DESIGN WITH SUPERB ISOLATION
The supercardioid pattern of this sophisticated capsule also helps isolate your instruments from other sound sources on the stage – efficiently reducing bleed from other instruments while ensuring copious amounts of gain before feedback.
INTERNAL WINDSCREEN & BEVELED SPRING STEEL GRILLE
The red internal windscreen efficiently reduces unwanted wind noise – and in case you prefer a more visually subtle black windscreen, we have also included one as a standard accessory. Its spring steel mesh grille is dent-proof with corrosion-free parts for roadworthy reliability. And see that beveled edge around the grille? It conveniently prevents the V7 X from rolling when set down on top of an amp or the stage floor!
UNIQUE, PATENTED INTEGRATED CAPSULE SUSPENSION
The V7 X’s advanced internal capsule suspension efficiently decouples the capsule from mechanical vibration, isolating it from shocks & jolts and providing exceptionally low rumble and handling noise as compared to other mics in its class.
ALL-METAL HOUSING & GOLD-PLATED XLR CONNECTOR
The V7 X’s road-ready design is all metal. The chassis’ high-quality, highly durable zinc alloy is designed to withhold the wear & tear of every day tour life and a gold-plated XLR connector also ensures a loss-free and reliable signal connection for years to come.
We generally recommend keeping your microphone in its case or original packaging when it is not in use for more than a few hours. If your studio is very clean and safe, it could be OK to leave out on its mic stand when not in use, but if a mic is out of its case, it could potentially be exposed to dust, smoke, moisture, or humidity – which can damage the sensitive parts of the mic – so we recommend avoiding those things at all cost.
If your microphone has come in contact with dirt or another removable substance, we recommend cleaning it with a very soft, slightly damp cotton cloth. Do not open the microphone up to clean the inside, and make sure you NEVER touch the capsule itself. Cleaning a capsule should only be done by highly trained professionals in a “clean room” environment. If you suspect your capsule needs to be cleaned, please contact [email protected] so we can recommend an authorized local technician.
For the most part, sE mics can tolerate extremely high SPLs (typically over 135dB) and will be fine in front of even the loudest sources – yes, even our ribbon mics. If in doubt, you can check the specifications on the individual product page.
You’ll need some sort of audio interface to do this – essentially, a box that converts an analog signal into a digital one, and sends the digital signal to your computer software in a way that your computer can understand. Some audio interfaces also include microphone preamplifiers, which raise the signal level from “mic level” to “line level” – if you are using an interface with no built-in preamp, you’ll need to plug the mic into a separate mic preamp like our DM1 DYNAMITE or DM2 TNT first.
